The Bionic Woman is a science fiction television series that aired on ABC from 1976 to 1978. It is a spin-off of the popular series The Six Million Dollar Man and follows the adventures of Jaime Sommers, a former professional tennis player who becomes the world's first female cyborg after a near-fatal skydiving accident.
Jaime receives similar bionic implants as Steve Austin from The Six Million Dollar Man, which includes a powerful bionic arm, legs, and ear that enable her to run at incredible speeds, have superhuman strength and hearing, and possess a remarkable degree of agility. However, after her initial surgery, Jaime suffers from bionic rejection, which threatens her life.
After fully recovering, Jaime is recruited by the government to work as a secret agent using her bionic strengths to execute top-secret missions. As a member of the Office of Scientific Information, Jaime embarks on thrilling missions around the globe, often crossing paths with her former lover and fellow bionic agent Steve Austin.
The series also explores the personal struggles Jaime faces in her everyday life as a cyborg, including the difficulties of acclimating to her newly enhanced body and the fear of revealing her secret to those she loves.
