Bonanza was a popular Western television series that aired from 1959 to 1973, following the lives of the Cartwright family on their ranch, the Ponderosa. The series was set in the fictional town of Virginia City, Nevada, during the 1860s and focused on the many challenges that the Cartwrights faced on a regular basis.
Ben Cartwright, played by Lorne Greene, was the patriarch of the family and owner of the Ponderosa Ranch. He had three sons, each with a distinct personality and role on the ranch. Adam, played by Pernell Roberts, was the oldest and often acted as the voice of reason. Hoss, played by Dan Blocker, was the middle son and was known for his strength and kindness. Little Joe, played by Michael Landon, was the youngest and most impulsive of the three.
