Victor Maynard, played by Bill Nighy, is a highly skilled hitman with a reputation for being the best in the business. He lives a quiet life, following his mother's strict rules and keeping his work discreet. However, his routine is disrupted when he is hired to kill Rose, a young woman played by Emily Blunt.
Instead of carrying out the hit, Victor decides to spare Rose's life after she convinces him that she is being targeted by a dangerous criminal. As a result, Victor finds himself forming an unlikely bond with Rose and eventually takes her under his wing as his apprentice.
As Victor and Rose navigate their new relationship, they are joined by Tony, a bumbling thief played by Rupert Grint, who mistakenly believes Victor is a private detective. The trio embarks on a series of misadventures as they try to stay one step ahead of Victor's client, a wealthy businessman named Ferguson, played by Rupert Everett, who is determined to see Rose dead.
