The series follows the adventures of Don Diego de la Vega, who disguises himself as the masked hero Zorro, as he fights for justice against corrupt officials and criminals in Spanish California during the early 19th century.

In this version of Zorro, Don Diego is portrayed as a highly cultured and educated individual, fluent in several languages, a skilled swordsman, and an accomplished musician. Unlike previous versions, he is also shown as a family man, with a wife and young son.

Zorro's arch-nemesis in the series is the cruel and ruthless Captain Ramon, who is determined to capture and unmask the masked hero. Ramon is aided by his devious henchman, Sergeant Mendoza, who provides much of the comic relief in the series.

Throughout the course of the series, Zorro must use all of his skills and cunning to thwart the various schemes of Ramon and his allies, while also struggling to maintain his secret identity and protect his loved ones.

The series was praised for its high production values and action-packed storylines, as well as for Regehr's charismatic portrayal of the iconic character. It remains a popular favorite among fans of the Zorro franchise.
