Vega$ was created by Michael Mann, who also created the hit show Miami Vice. The show was known for its glamorous and glitzy portrayal of Las Vegas, featuring lavish hotels, casinos, and nightlife. The theme song, composed by disco legend Barry White, became a hit in its own right.
Robert Urich's portrayal of Dan Tanna made him a household name and sex symbol. Tanna was a tough but charming private detective who had a soft spot for his clients and friends. He had a complicated romantic relationship with his assistant, Beatrice Travis, played by Phyllis Davis.
The show also featured a colorful cast of supporting characters, including Tanna's shady informant "Binzer" played by Bart Braverman and Captain Krieger, the head of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, played by Richard Yniguez.
Vega$ tackled a wide variety of cases, from murder and extortion to celebrity scandals and political corruption. The show was praised for its stylish visuals, witty dialogue, and fun action sequences.
