The lead character, played by Jim Caviezel, is a man known only as "Number Six" who is trapped in a strange and surreal community called "The Village." He is constantly monitored by a mysterious entity known as "Number Two" (played by Ian McKellen). Number Six must navigate the Village's social hierarchy and uncover the truth behind his imprisonment while resisting the village's brainwashing techniques.
The miniseries explores themes of identity, individualism, and societal control, much like the original TV show. The new series updates the setting to modern times and features a more expansive setting and a larger ensemble cast. It received mixed reviews from critics and viewers, with some praising it for its ambition and others criticising it for diverging too much from the tone and spirit of the original series.
