The Honeymooners first premiered as a series of sketches on The Jackie Gleason Show in 1951 before becoming a standalone sitcom in 1955. The show followed the lives of Ralph Kramden, a bus driver played by Jackie Gleason, and his friend Ed Norton, played by Art Carney.
Despite their various money-making schemes and attempts to strike it rich, Ralph and Ed often found themselves in comical mishaps and failed ventures. Meanwhile, their wives Alice (Audrey Meadows) and Trixie (Joyce Randolph) provided a grounded perspective and often had to deal with the consequences of their husbands' antics.
The show was known for its classic one-liners and catchphrases, such as Ralph's famous "To the moon, Alice!" and Ed's "Hey, Norton!" The Honeymooners has since become an iconic example of early American sitcoms and continues to be celebrated for its humor and influence on television comedy.
