The Greatest Show on Earth followed the lives and adventures of the people who worked in a traveling circus, including the performers, animal trainers, and administrators. The series was inspired by the popular 1952 film of the same name, which starred Charlton Heston.
The show was filmed on location at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and featured actual circus performers and acts alongside the actors, and included cameos by a number of famous guest stars. The series also explored the personal lives of the characters, including their romantic relationships and family dramas.
Despite positive critical reviews and a number of Emmy nominations, The Greatest Show on Earth failed to attract a large enough audience and was cancelled after just one season. However, it remains a cult classic among fans of classic TV and circus enthusiasts alike.
