The Greatest American Hero aired from 1981 to 1983 and starred William Katt as Ralph Hinkley, a high school teacher who is chosen by aliens to become a superhero for Earth. Along with the suit, Ralph also receives a helpful, yet often grating, alien mentor named Bill Maxwell (played by Robert Culp), who helps him fight crime and save the world.

Throughout the series, Ralph struggles with not only learning how to use his new powers but also balancing his superhero duties with his personal life, including his relationships with his students, girlfriend (played by Connie Sellecca), and young son. Bill often acts as a sort of father figure to Ralph, pushing him to embrace his new role as a hero while also providing snarky commentary and insisting on being involved in every mission.

The show is known for its classic theme song, "Believe it or Not," which became a hit and even received a Grammy nomination. The series was cancelled after three seasons, leaving fans wondering what adventures Ralph and Bill may have had if the show had continued.
