Salvage 1 follows the adventures of Harry Broderick (Andy Griffith), a scrap dealer who dreams of retrieving discarded NASA equipment from the junkyards and using it to launch his own spacecraft. With the help of his mechanic friend, Skip (Joel Higgins) and his assistant, Melanie (Trish Stewart), Harry sets out to realize his dreams, often coming up against opposition from government agencies and rival salvage companies.
The show's episodes often involve Harry and his team salvaging items like a Saturn V rocket, a space shuttle, and an experimental plane, using their skills and ingenuity to overcome obstacles and complete their missions.
