Laredo follows the adventures of three Texas Rangers, Chad Cooper (played by Peter Brown), Joe Riley (played by William Smith), and Reese Bennett (played by Neville Brand) who are assigned to Laredo, Texas, in the 1860s. The trio of rangers must deal with outlaws, bandits, and other criminals while also navigating the cultural differences and political tensions along the border between the United States and Mexico.
Chad Cooper is the youngest of the three rangers, an idealistic and sometimes hotheaded lawman who is eager to prove himself. Joe Riley is a veteran ranger who is more cynical and street-wise, often using his wits and fists to solve problems. Reese Bennett is the grizzled and experienced senior member of the team, an old-fashioned gunfighter who is more comfortable with a six-shooter than with the newfangled technology of the era.
Throughout the series, the trio of rangers work to maintain the peace in Laredo, often clashing with local authorities or dealing with personal issues that threaten to distract them from their duties. They are sometimes aided by their boss, Captain Parmalee (played by Philip Carey), a shrewd and resourceful ranger who provides logistical support and tactical advice from his headquarters in Austin.
Laredo was known for its blend of action, humor, and western-style charm, and it remains a beloved cult classic among fans of the genre. In addition to its regular cast, the series featured a range of guest stars over its two-year run, including Dan Blocker, Jack Elam, and Slim Pickens.
