He & She followed the lives of newlyweds Dick and Paula Hollister, played by Richard Benjamin and Paula Prentiss, as they navigated their way through the early years of marriage and their respective careers. Dick was a struggling cartoonist, while Paula worked as an advertising copywriter. Their best friends, Oscar and Nancy, played by Jack Cassidy and Kenneth Mars, were frequently involved in their adventures.
The show's writing was noted for its quick wit and clever dialogue, and it often broke the fourth wall by having the characters directly address the audience. It also tackled more mature themes, such as infidelity and marital problems, which was unusual for sitcoms of the time.
He & She was created by Leonard Stern, who had previously worked on The Honeymooners and Get Smart. The show was praised by critics, but struggled in the ratings and was cancelled after just one season.
