Throughout the series, viewers saw the dynamic between the sophisticated and sometimes aloof Bill Davis (played by Brian Keith) and his three young charges. Cissy (played by Kathy Garver) was a typical teenage girl, often dealing with teenage drama and romantic interests. Jody (played by Johnny Whitaker) was the mischievous troublemaker of the group, always getting into mischief but with a good heart. And Buffy (played by Anissa Jones) was the adorable and lovable youngest of the group, often providing comic relief with her innocent and precocious nature.
Mr. French (played by Sebastian Cabot) was a father figure to the children and often served as the voice of reason in the household. He had a close and loving relationship with all three kids, despite his initial reluctance to take on the role of caregiver.
Family Affair dealt with themes of family, love, and the challenges of parenting. It also explored the idea of unconventional family structures and the importance of love and support in a child's life. Despite the initial premise of a bachelor suddenly becoming a parent, the show evolved into a heartwarming and endearing portrayal of a makeshift family finding love and happiness together.
