Hyakkimaru's quest for his missing body parts takes him on a journey throughout feudal Japan, encountering various demons that he must defeat in order to regain his body parts. Each demon he defeats restores a part of his body, such as his eyesight, hearing, limbs, and even his nervous system.
However, as Hyakkimaru regains his body, he begins to discover that there are consequences to his actions, as he starts to experience emotions and empathy for others. In contrast, his father Kagemitsu Daigo becomes increasingly corrupted and consumed by his lust for power, leading to a conflict between the two.
Throughout his journey, Hyakkimaru is accompanied by Dororo, a young orphan who becomes his friend and sidekick. Dororo has a troubled past and harbors a secret about his own identity, which is gradually revealed as the series progresses.
Together, Hyakkimaru and Dororo face various challenges and adversaries, from bandits and bounty hunters to powerful demons and corrupt officials. The series explores themes of revenge, identity, redemption, and the human condition, culminating in a dramatic and emotional finale.
