Real-life crime stories from LA Sheriff's Office

N/A  United States of America

Code 3 was created by executive producer George Hirliman and produced by Republic Studios. The show followed the daily lives of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department, following their investigations of crimes such as murder, drug smuggling, bank robberies, and kidnappings.

The series starred Richard Travis as Sheriff Rod Blake, a no-nonsense lawman who served as the show's narrator and lead protagonist. Other regular cast members included Wendell Holmes as Lt. Gil Reyes, Richard Crane as Deputy Bill Hollis, and Fredd Wayne as Deputy Ray Brown.

One of the unique aspects of Code 3 was that each episode was based on actual cases from the Los Angeles Sheriff's office. This gave the show a sense of realism and authenticity that many other crime dramas of the time lacked.

Code 3 aired in syndication from 1957-1959 and ran for a total of 39 episodes. Despite its short run, the show was well-regarded by critics and audiences alike, and helped pave the way for other realistic police dramas in the years to come.
