Angie was created by Garry Marshall and Dale McRaven and starred Donna Pescow in the title role of Angie Falco, an Italian-American single mother from Brooklyn who marries Brad Benson, a high school teacher played by Robert Hays. The show followed their lives as a newlywed couple and blended family, with Brad's two children from a previous marriage, and Angie's son from her first marriage.
The show's supporting cast included Doris Roberts as Angie's mother, Theresa, Debralee Scott as Angie's best friend, Marie, and Tammy Lauren and Ted Wass as Brad's children, Patty and Joey.
Despite a strong start with high ratings, the show struggled to find its footing and underwent several changes in its format and cast. In its second and final season, the show was retooled to focus on the newly divorced Angie and her attempt to start a career in the fashion industry. However, these changes were not enough to save the show, and it was cancelled after a total of 36 episodes.
Despite its brief run, Angie remains a cult favorite among fans and is remembered for its portrayal of a working-class Italian-American family in the late 1970s.
