Debra never believed in zombies until it happened to her. She wakes up one day to find herself inside her own mind, trapped inside a body that's no longer hers. She has no control over it anymore - it's taken over by the insatiable hunger for brains.
As Debra struggles with her new reality, she discovers that she's not the only one experiencing this strange transformation. A virus has spread across the city, causing people to turn into zombies - and the government has declared a state of emergency.
With the help of a small group of survivors, Debra sets out to find a cure for the virus and regain control of her body. Along the way, they face many obstacles, including hordes of mindless zombies and the dangerous military response to the outbreak.
As the group draws closer to finding a cure, they discover that the virus was not a random accident, but the result of a sinister government experiment gone wrong. Debra and her friends must race against time to stop the government from unleashing even more deadly viruses that could bring about the end of the world as they know it.
At the end of the movie, Debra is able to reclaim control of her body, but not without the sacrifice of some of her fellow survivors who did not make it through the ordeal. She and the rest of the survivors vow to expose the government's role in the outbreak and prevent another catastrophe from happening again.
