Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo is a 1970 Japanese Chambara film directed by Kihachi Okamoto, and it is the twentieth film in the Zatoichi film series and the first to feature the character of Sanjuro from the Yojimbo film series. The movie stars Shintaro Katsu as Zatoichi, Toshiro Mifune as Sanjuro, and Ayako Wakao as Umeno.
The film follows the story of Ichi, a blind masseur and skilled swordsman who seeks refuge in a small village. He soon discovers that the village is controlled by Boss Masagoro, who is also searching for a stash of stolen gold.
Yojimbo, a rogue samurai and a spy for the shogunate, is hired by Masagoro to help find the gold. However, Yojimbo is also in love with Umeno, who is the mistress of the gold's original owner, a merchant rumored to have stolen it from the shogunate.
Ichi hires on as the merchant's masseur and becomes embroiled in the conflict between the two sides. He falls in love with the kind-hearted Umeno and purchases her freedom from Masagoro. However, this only adds fuel to the feud between Masagoro and the merchant, leading to a final, deadly confrontation.
During the final battle, Ichi discovers the location of the stolen gold and sets in motion a final showdown between the two feuding parties. In the end, Ichi emerges victorious and leaves the village with Umeno, while Yojimbo disappears into the night.
