Zardoz is a 1974 science fiction film directed by John Boorman and starring Sean Connery. The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where humanity has divided itself into two groups: the immortal Eternals and the mortal Brutals. The Eternals have advanced technology and live in a luxurious, isolated community, while the Brutals live a violent and impoverished life outside the community.
One day, a Brutal named Zed (Sean Connery) manages to infiltrate the community and encounters the Eternals. Initially, he's met with hostility, but he soon discovers that the Eternals are bored with their unending, stagnant lives, and they're searching for a way to feel alive again.
Zed, however, is a fierce and dangerous warrior, trained only to kill, and he quickly becomes embroiled in the Eternals' internal power struggles. He's also drawn to Consuella (Charlotte Rampling), one of the Eternals who's unlike the others and seems to understand Zed in a way that no one else does.
As the story unfolds, Zed's presence in the community sets off a chain of events that triggers a revolution among the Eternals and ultimately leads to a confrontation between Zed and the true ruler of their society, a powerful and mysterious being named Zardoz.
Zardoz is a visually stunning and thought-provoking film that explores themes of immortality, power, violence, and the human condition. It's been described as a cult classic and has influenced several other science fiction films, including The Matrix and Inception.
