Drama  Germany,Cuba,Spain,France,United Kingdom

Yuli is a biographical drama film directed by Icíar Bollaín and written by Paul Laverty. It is based on the autobiographical book No Way Home: A Cuban Dancer's Story, written by Carlos Acosta, who also portrays himself in the film.

The movie chronicles the life of Carlos, a rebellious young boy who grows up in the poverty-stricken and racially divided city of Havana in the 1980s. Carlos is the youngest of eleven children, who are all considered Cuban royalty in the flamenco dance world. Despite his father's insistence that he follow in his family's footsteps, Carlos is drawn to the more fluid and expressive style of ballet.

Carlos initially resents his father's decision to send him to the National Ballet School of Cuba, but after a chance encounter with his hero, the legendary dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov, Carlos begins to pursue his passion for dance with fierce determination. He overcomes bullying, racism, and his own self-doubt to become one of the most celebrated dancers of his generation.

The film explores themes of identity, race, and class, as well as the power of art to transcend boundaries. It features stunning dance sequences set against the vibrant backdrop of Havana and London, and is a tribute to the resilience and creativity of the human spirit.
