In the movie, the shy duelist's name is Yugi Muto, and he is a high school student who loves playing the popular card game, Yu-Gi-Oh!. However, due to his timid nature, Yugi struggles to win against other skilled players.
One day, Yugi's grandfather gives him a mysterious puzzle that he found in Egypt, which will ultimately unlock the secrets of the Millennium Puzzle. As Yugi solves the puzzle, he discovers that he has a mysterious alter ego that emerges when he plays certain card games.
Upon finding the legendary Red Eyes Black Dragon card, Yugi becomes more determined to use his alter ego and bring out his confidence in duels. He teams up with his friends, including Joey Wheeler and Tea Gardner, to take on rival duelist Seto Kaiba and his powerful Blue Eyes White Dragon card.
With the help of his alter ego, Yugi must overcome his shyness and learn to trust his instincts to defeat his opponents and become the ultimate duelist. Along the way, he also discovers the true nature of the Millennium Puzzle and the powerful magic it possesses.
