The movie "Youngblood" tells the story of 17-year-old Dean Youngblood, a talented hockey player from New York who travels to Canada to play for the Hamilton Mustangs, a junior team in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Dean has dreams of making it to the NHL, but he quickly discovers that the rough and tumble world of Canadian junior hockey is much different than what he's used to.
Dean's skills on the ice are undeniable, but he's soon challenged by other players who want to test his toughness and willingness to fight. Dean is reluctant to engage in fisticuffs and prefers to let his skills do the talking, but he soon realizes that in order to earn the respect of his teammates and earn the attention of NHL scouts, he needs to show that he's willing to stand up for himself.
Complicating matters is Dean's attraction to Jessie Braden, the daughter of the team's coach. Jessie is smart, beautiful, and fiercely independent, but her father is protective and doesn't want her dating one of his players. Dean and Jessie's relationship becomes even more complicated when her former boyfriend, a brutish enforcer named Carl Racki, returns to the team and starts bullying Dean on the ice.
Despite the challenges, Dean manages to win over his teammates and show his mettle as a tough, skilled player. With the help of his mentor, veteran player Derek Sutton, and the support of Jessie, Dean fights to prove himself on the ice and earn his shot at the NHL. In the end, he realizes that true toughness comes from within and that being true to oneself is the only way to succeed in hockey and in life.
