Young Guns is a 1988 Western film directed by Christopher Cain and starring Emilio Estevez as Billy the Kid, Kiefer Sutherland as Doc Scurlock, Lou Diamond Phillips as Chavez y Chavez, Charlie Sheen as Richard "Dick" Brewer and Dermot Mulroney as Dirty Steve Stephens. The film is loosely based on the true story of Billy the Kid and his involvement in the Lincoln County War in New Mexico in the late 1800s.

The movie begins with a group of young men who are hired by cattle rancher John Tunstall to work on his ranch. Tunstall becomes a mentor and father figure to the group, who are all orphans or runaways. When Tunstall is murdered by a rival cattle baron, the young men, led by Billy the Kid, decide to seek revenge by becoming deputies and bringing the killers to justice.

However, their quest for vengeance takes a dark turn when Billy begins to take his authority too far and becomes increasingly violent and unpredictable. As tensions rise and the situation spirals out of control, the young men find themselves being hunted by their former allies and forced to fight for their lives.

The film is notable for its fast-paced action sequences, witty dialogue, and strong performances from its young cast. It was followed by a sequel, Young Guns II, in 1990, which continued the story of Billy the Kid and his gang.
