You, Me and Him

Comedy  United Kingdom

You, Me and Him is a British romantic comedy-drama film that was released in 2017. The film tells the story of lesbian couple Olivia and Alex, who have been together for three years and have just moved into a new home in the countryside. Despite their age difference (Olivia is in her forties while Alex is in her thirties), the couple is deeply in love and committed to each other.

As the film opens, Olivia and Alex are trying to decide whether to have a baby. Olivia is unsure if she wants to be a mother at her age, but Alex is eager to start a family. The couple ends up visiting a fertility clinic, where they meet their handsome and charming doctor, who seems to be interested in more than just their medical needs.

At the same time, their new neighbour, John, befriends them. John is a middle-aged heterosexual man who is recently divorced and struggling to find his place in the world. He is initially attracted to Olivia but ends up forming a close friendship with both women.

As the story progresses, Olivia and Alex make a series of increasingly poor decisions. Olivia becomes convinced that John would make a good sperm donor and begins to pursue him, despite Alex's objections. Alex, feeling left out and insecure, starts to drink heavily and cheat on Olivia.

The film explores the complexities of relationships, identity, and parenthood in a humorous and heartfelt way. The performances by the three leads (Lucy Punch, Faye Marsay, and David Tennant) are all excellent, bringing depth and nuance to their characters.

Overall, You, Me and Him is a charming and poignant film that tackles serious issues with warmth, wit, and sensitivity.
