Love Lost, Wealth Found: A Deception Tale.

Drama  United Kingdom

The movie You Made Me Love You is a romantic comedy released in 1933, directed by Monty Banks and starring Norman Taurog, Madge Evans, and Richard "Skeets" Gallagher. The film revolves around the wealthy American businessman, John Beaumont (played by Taurog), who has come to London with his daughter, Carol (played by Evans), and her fiancé, Frederick (played by Gallagher).

John Beaumont is a loving father, but he's also a bit of a snob who doesn't approve of Carol's choice of husband, insisting that she marry someone of equal status. However, Carol is in love with Frederick, who is a struggling composer. When John realizes that his daughter's happiness is at stake, he comes up with a plan to make her fall out of love with Frederick and marry someone more suitable.

To do so, John pretends to have lost all of his wealth and tells Carol that they're broke. As a result, Carol becomes less interested in her fiancé and more concerned about their financial situation. She starts to date the wealthy son of a business associate of John's, but soon realizes that she still loves Frederick.

In the end, John's ruse is uncovered, and he admits that he was wrong to interfere in his daughter's love life. He comes to accept Frederick as his son-in-law and acknowledges that true love is more important than wealth or status.

The film received mixed reviews upon its release, with critics praising the performances of the cast but criticizing the predictable plot. Nevertheless, it remains an enjoyable romantic comedy that captures the spirit of its time.
