Yossi

Romance,Drama  Israel

Yossi, the sequel to Yossi and Jagger, is a 2012 Israeli romantic drama film directed by Eytan Fox and written by Itay Segal. The film stars Ohad Knoller as the titular character, Yossi, who is struggling to overcome the grief of losing his lover, Jagger, in the army.

The film begins several years after the events of Yossi and Jagger, with Yossi now working as a cardiologist at a hospital in Tel Aviv. He lives a secluded and lonely life, still mourning the loss of Jagger and unable to move on.

Yossi's life takes an unexpected turn when he meets a group of young soldiers visiting the hospital. One of the soldiers, Tom (Oz Zehavi), catches Yossi's attention, and they strike up a conversation. Tom invites Yossi to join him and his friends on a trip to the beach, but Yossi declines.

Later, Yossi receives a package in the mail containing a book and a note from a woman named Varda (Orly Silbersatz Banai), whom he knew from his earlier army days. The note urges Yossi to come to the southern city of Eilat, where she is vacationing with her family.

Yossi decides to take a spontaneous trip to Eilat and meet up with Varda. Along the way, he picks up a young male hitchhiker named Moti (Lior Ashkenazi), who is surprised to learn that Yossi is gay.

In Eilat, Yossi reconnects with Varda and meets her husband and children. He also spends time with Tom and his friends, who are partying and having a good time. Yossi begins to let loose and enjoy himself, something he hasn't done in years.

As his trip comes to an end, Yossi realizes that he has started to move on from Jagger's death and is ready to start living again. He returns to Tel Aviv with a new sense of purpose and hope for the future.

Overall, Yossi is a powerful and moving film that explores themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. Ohad Knoller delivers a standout performance as the titular character, and Eytan Fox's direction is both sensitive and nuanced.
