XXY is a 2007 Argentine-Spanish-French drama film directed by LucÃa Puenzo. The film deals with the struggles of intersex identity and self-discovery. The central character of the film is Alex, a 15-year-old intersex person who is biologically both male and female. Alex has been living as a girl all her life and has been supported by her parents, who moved to a remote seaside town to protect her from the judgment and scrutiny of society.
The film begins with the arrival of a family friend, Alvaro, and his teenage son, Ezequiel, who is attracted to Alex.
