Mikaela has been a successful romance novelist for years and has written some of the most popular books in the genre. However, she has had bad luck in love and has never been able to find a lasting relationship. Each year, she visits a quaint bed and breakfast in a snowy lake town to attend a Christmas writer's retreat.
Upon arriving, Mikaela meets Levi, a fellow writer who is charming and handsome. They quickly strike up a friendship, and Mikaela finds herself drawn to him. Levi challenges Mikaela to get out and experience love for herself, rather than just writing about it.
As Mikaela spends time with Levi, she begins to see things differently. She realizes that she has been holding herself back and that it's time for her to take a chance on love. With Levi's encouragement, Mikaela opens herself up to new experiences and new relationships.
Over the course of the retreat, Mikaela and Levi become closer, and it's clear that there's a strong connection between them. But Mikaela is hesitant to open herself up completely, and she struggles to overcome her fears.
Eventually, Mikaela realizes that she's falling in love with Levi and that he feels the same way about her. They share a sweet, romantic moment by the Christmas tree, and Mikaela knows that she's finally found the happy ending that she's been writing about for so long.
