Write When You Get Work is a romantic comedy-drama film directed by Stacy Cochran. The film revolves around Ruth Duffy, who is an assistant at a pricey school for girls in Manhattan. Ruth has been through a lot of trouble and loss in her teenage years, but manages to move beyond them and carve out a stable life for herself.

On the other hand, Jonny Collins is working local jobs near the Throgs Neck Bridge in the Bronx. He is a charming and carefree guy, who is always looking for a shortcut in life. When Ruth and Jonny cross paths after years apart, Jonny is immediately struck by Ruth's sharp wit and intelligence, just like he was in their high school days.

Eventually, Jonny infiltrates Ruth's life and starts manipulating her into fulfilling his own selfish desires for love and profit. He begins to use Ruth's connections and knowledge to his advantage, which puts Ruth in a tricky situation and puts her morals to test.

The film explores the complexities of relationships, ambition, greed, and morality. It showcases the changing dynamics between Ruth and Jonny, and how they deal with their past, present, and future. Write When You Get Work stars Finn Wittrock, Rachel Keller, and Emily Mortimer in lead roles. It premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March 2018 and received mixed reviews from critics.
