As Halla carries out sabotage attacks on the local aluminium industry, she becomes famous throughout Iceland as the "Mountain Woman." Her goal is to protect the fragile ecosystem of the Highlands from the destruction caused by heavy industry. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she learns that she has been approved to adopt a Ukrainian orphan. Halla must decide between her commitment to environmentalism and her desire to be a mother. Meanwhile, the government launches an all-out effort to track down and capture the woman known as the "Mountain Woman," increasing the stakes in a tense game of cat and mouse. As she goes on the run from the authorities, Halla discovers that her activism has given her a sense of purpose she never knew she was missing.
