Wolfwalkers is an animated movie directed by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart. Set in the 17th century, the film follows the story of Robyn Goodfellowe, an apprentice hunter who accompanies her father, Bill, to Ireland to eradicate the last remaining pack of wolves that inhabit the nearby forest. Robyn is eager to prove herself as a hunter, but her curiosity and compassion for the wild creatures begin to interfere with her father's mission.
One day, Robyn meets Mebh, a young girl who claims to be a Wolfwalker, someone who can transform into a wolf when they sleep. Mebh is on a mission to find her missing mother and enlists Robyn's help. As they journey deeper into the forest, Robyn learns about the ways of the Wolfwalkers, their connection to nature, and their magical abilities. She also discovers that her father's true intentions are not what she thought, and that the real threat to the forest and its inhabitants is not the wolves, but the humans and their desire to tame and control nature.
As Robyn becomes more involved with Mebh and the Wolfwalkers, she begins to transform herself and gains the ability to see through the eyes of a wolf. But amidst the growing conflict between her loyalty to her father and her newfound love for nature, she must ultimately choose which side she is on and come to terms with the consequences of her actions.
Wolfwalkers is a beautifully animated and heartfelt story about friendship, nature, and coming of age.
