The young woman, Paige, becomes increasingly obsessed with the messages she receives and begins to investigate the former tenant's disappearance. She discovers that the woman, Susan, was involved in a cult that practiced occult rituals and that she disappeared shortly after a particularly intense ceremony. Paige also begins to experience supernatural occurrences in her apartment, including objects moving on their own and strange visions. With the help of a friend, Paige attempts to unravel the mystery behind Susan's disappearance, but the closer they get to the truth, the more dangerous their investigation becomes. Eventually, they realize that they have opened a doorway to an evil spirit that is determined to possess Paige and use her body to carry out its twisted agenda. The finale of the movie takes place in a dramatic showdown between Paige, her friends, and the demonic entity that has taken control of her body.
