Windows is a 1980 thriller directed by Gordon Willis and starring Talia Shire as Emily, a recently divorced woman who moves into a new apartment in New York City. Emily's neighbor, Andrea (played by Elizabeth Ashley), is a fashion designer who quickly becomes obsessed with her and begins to invade her privacy in increasingly aggressive ways.
As Emily starts a new relationship with Detective Cortese (played by Joseph Cortese), Andrea grows more jealous and enlists the help of a petty criminal to break into Emily's apartment and record audio of her having sex. Andrea then uses the tapes to fulfill her own sexual desires.
In addition to the audio recordings, Andrea also watches Emily through a telescope and becomes increasingly disturbed as she sees her with other men. The movie builds to a thrilling climax as Andrea's obsession reaches a boiling point and Emily must fight for her safety and sanity.
Windows was released to mixed reviews, with some critics praising the tense atmosphere and strong performances while others criticized the film's reliance on voyeurism and sexual violence.
