The movie Winchester is a supernatural horror film inspired by the true story of Sarah Winchester, the heiress to the Winchester rifle fortune. After her husband and child die, Sarah is convinced that she is being haunted and cursed by the spirits of those who have been killed by the rifles her company manufactured.
As a result, she continuously builds and expands her mansion in San Jose, California, to create odd and confusing architectural features, such as staircases that lead to nowhere and doors that open to walls. Sarah believes that the never-ending construction will keep the spirits of the dead at bay.
As the story unfolds, Eric Price, a psychiatrist, is sent to evaluate Sarah's mental health and determine whether she is fit to control the Winchester fortune. However, he soon discovers that there are dark forces at work in the house and that Sarah's fears may not be unfounded.
The film follows their quest to unravel the secrets of the Winchester mansion and uncover the truth about Sarah's past, as they are confronted by malevolent spirits and supernatural phenomena. In the end, the film climaxes with a terrifying showdown between the living and the dead in the eerie mansion's hallways.
