History,Drama,War  Belgium,Poland

As the Second World War escalates, the occupation and violence in Antwerp worsen, creating an atmosphere of fear and distrust. Wilfried Wils, an auxiliary policeman, finds himself caught in the middle of this chaos, desperately trying to navigate his way through the treacherous landscape.

Wilfried is a complex character who is determined to prioritize his own survival above all else. He avoids getting too involved in the various factions and power struggles within the city, always cautious not to take sides that could be detrimental to his well-being.

One person who offers him support and resources is Meanbeard, a man who has decided to collaborate with the German occupiers. Meanbeard's assistance, however, comes with its own moral dilemmas as Wilfried grapples with the consequences of aligning himself with someone who is working against the interests of his fellow countrymen.

On the other hand, Wilfried also gains the trust and friendship of Lode, a fellow policeman who is vehemently against the Nazis and their atrocities. Lode is the brother of Yvette, the woman Wilfried loves, which further complicates his situation.

As the persecution of Jews intensifies, Wilfried witnesses firsthand the horrors and brutality inflicted upon this vulnerable community. He is faced with difficult choices, torn between his own survival instincts and his growing empathy for the suffering of others.

Throughout the film, Wilfried's loyalty and allegiances are constantly tested as he tries to make sense of the turbulent world around him. The plot delves into the moral gray areas of survival, collaboration, and resistance, exploring the complexities of human nature and the difficult choices individuals must make in extreme circumstances.
