Harvey and Zoey, two American tourists in Israel, are visiting a historical site when they come across an old scroll. They discover that it tells the story of Herschel, a man who was chosen by God to free his people from slavery and lead them to the Promised Land.
As they read on, they find out that Herschel was a bumbling and inept shepherd who was constantly getting into trouble. And yet, despite his flaws, God chose him to be the one to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
However, when Herschel arrives on the scene, he discovers that there is already someone who has taken on the role of leader - Moses. And Moses is not about to give up his position of power easily.
As Herschel struggles to gain the trust of the Israelites and convince them that he is the one who has been chosen by God, Moses does everything in his power to discredit Herschel and make himself look good.
But despite all the obstacles in his way, Herschel perseveres and eventually leads the Israelites to freedom - even though he never gets the credit he deserves.
