Who Was That Lady? is a 1960 American comedy film directed by George Sidney. The film stars Tony Curtis, Dean Martin, and Janet Leigh. The movie follows the story of a chemist named David Wilson, played by Tony Curtis, who gets caught out with a student during a walk in Central Park and, while trying to explain it to his wife Ann, played by Janet Leigh, he tells her he is actually an FBI agent, and the student was part of a sting operation.
Ann, who is a bit of a gossip, tells her friends about her husband's secret mission, and soon enough, the story spreads like wildfire. The FBI gets wind of it and starts investigating. David then enlists the help of his TV writer friend, Mike, played by Dean Martin, to help him craft a believable backstory and get him out of the mess he's in.
The climax of the movie takes place in the sub-basements of the Empire State Building, where David and Mike find themselves trapped in what they believe to be an enemy submarine. They decide to scuttle the vessel in a patriotic act, but only succeed in rocking the building.
The film's storyline is a witty parody of the spy genre that was popular during the time, and the performances by Curtis, Martin, and Leigh are excellent. The movie is a fun and lighthearted comedy that is sure to make you laugh.
