White Zombie is a classic horror film from 1932 directed by Victor Halperin and starring Bela Lugosi as the sorcerer, Murder Legendre. The film is known for being the first feature-length zombie movie ever made.
The story follows the wealthy plantation owner, Charles Beaumont, who is set to marry his fiancee, Madeline, in Haiti. When Madeline's friend, Neil, arrives to attend their wedding, Charles becomes infatuated with Madeline and seeks out the help of Murder, a notorious voodoo sorcerer, to make her fall in love with him.
Murder agrees to help but secretly desires Madeline for himself. He puts a spell on her and turns her into a zombie, effectively robbing her of her will and making her a mindless servant in his unholy army of the undead.
Neil becomes suspicious of Charles and Murder's motives and begins investigating the strange occurrences on the island. He eventually uncovers the truth about Madeline and races against time to save her from the clutches of Murder and break the zombie spell before it's too late.
The film is a haunting and atmospheric horror movie with stunningly eerie visuals and Lugosi's unnerving performance as Murder Legendre standing out as the highlights. White Zombie has since become a cult classic and inspired countless zombie movies and TV shows that followed.
