White Lie

Drama  Canada

White Lie is a tense psychological drama that tells the story of Katie Arneson (Kacey Rohl), a university student who is feigning a cancer diagnosis to gain attention and financial donations from her community. Initially, Katie's lie appears to be working, with people rallying around her and offering emotional and financial support. However, as her web of deceit becomes more and more complex, Katie struggles to maintain the facade and keep her secret hidden from those closest to her.

As the film progresses, we see how Katie's deception begins to unravel. She lies to her girlfriend, Jennifer (Amber Anderson), and her mother, Mary (Kimberly-Sue Murray), both of whom become increasingly suspicious of her behavior. Katie also faces increasing scrutiny from her university, as her professors and classmates question the legitimacy of her diagnosis.

As the pressure mounts, Katie becomes increasingly obsessed with maintaining her secret, going to great lengths to ensure that no one discovers the truth. However, as the lies continue to pile up, Katie finds herself increasingly isolated and alone, struggling to reconcile the person she has become with the person she once was.

In the end, White Lie is a powerful exploration of the human capacity for deception and the price that must be paid for a life built on lies. With strong performances from the entire cast and suspenseful direction from directors Yonah Lewis and Calvin Thomas, this is a film that will keep you engaged from beginning to end.
