The movie Whisper of the Heart is a coming-of-age story that follows the emotional journey of Shizuku, a 14-year-old girl who is struggling to find her true passion in life. She spends most of her days reading books and writing stories, but she feels lost and directionless, uncertain what she wants to do with her future.
One day, while checking out library books, Shizuku notices that all of the books she has borrowed have been previously checked out by the same person – a boy named Seiji Amasawa. Intrigued, she becomes determined to find out more about him. She eventually meets Seiji, and though they initially clash, they begin to develop a close relationship.
As Shizuku spends more time with Seiji, she discovers his dreams of becoming a violin maker and his passion for music. This inspires her to explore her own talents. Encouraged by Seiji, she starts to write her own story about Baron, a magical cat statue that comes to life in her dreams.
Through her experiences with Seiji, Shizuku learns to embrace her creativity and to pursue her own dreams. The movie also touches on themes of self-discovery, friendship, and love.
