Where'd You Go, Bernadette is a comedy-drama film based on the 2012 novel of the same name by Maria Semple. The film follows Bernadette Fox, an architect who, after suffering a series of personal and professional setbacks, has become a reclusive and eccentric woman living in a crumbling mansion in Seattle.
Bernadette's daughter, Bee, is a bright and ambitious 15-year-old who has always idolized her mother. When Bernadette disappears just before the family's planned trip to Antarctica, Bee is devastated and begins to investigate on her own.
With the help of her father, Elgin, Bee begins to unravel the mystery of her mother's disappearance and discovers that Bernadette has been secretly planning a trip to Antarctica for herself. As they travel from Seattle to Antarctica, Bee and Elgin also uncover the truth about Bernadette's past and the reasons why she has become so reclusive.
The film features an all-star cast, including Cate Blanchett as Bernadette, Billy Crudup as Elgin, and Emma Nelson as Bee. It was directed by Richard Linklater and released in 2019.
