What's Up, Doc? is a 1972 American screwball comedy directed by Peter Bogdanovich and starring Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neal. The film revolves around four identical plaid overnight bags that become mixed up, leading to a series of comedic misunderstandings and mistaken identities.

The bags are intended for four different people attending a conference in San Francisco, but they all end up in the hands of Howard Bannister (O'Neal), a musicologist seeking a grant for his research, and Judy Maxwell (Streisand), a free spirit who is attracted to Howard. The bags contain a series of important items, including a collection of rare rocks, top-secret government documents, and a jewelry set worth millions.

As the bags are shuffled around amongst various characters in the film, chaos ensues. A group of spies attempts to track down the missing government documents, a wealthy playboy tries to retrieve the precious jewelry, and a hotel detective (played by Madeline Kahn) becomes increasingly frustrated with the absurdity of the situation.

However, at the center of it all is the burgeoning romance between Howard and Judy, who must navigate their way through the ridiculous and hilarious situations that arise as they try to return the bags to their rightful owners.

What's Up, Doc? has been praised for its sharp dialogue, zany plot, and the chemistry between Streisand and O'Neal. It is considered a classic example of a screwball comedy and was a box office success upon its release.
