What's Love Got to Do with It? follows the story of two childhood friends, Raj and Simran, who have been inseparable since their childhood. They grew up together in London, but their families are originally from Pakistan. As they reach their thirties, Raj's parents want him to settle down and get married. To fulfill his parents' wishes, Raj decides to travel to India and get married to a girl chosen by his parents through an arranged marriage.
While in India, Raj meets a girl named Taara, and he feels an instant connection with her. Taara is a free-spirited girl who is completely different from the traditional bride his parents have chosen for him. Raj must now decide whether to follow his heart and break with tradition by marrying Taara, or to follow his head and marry the girl his parents have chosen for him.
Simran, on the other hand, is dealing with her own heartbreak as she is in love with Raj. She decides to travel to India to attend Raj's wedding and give her blessings to the couple, even though she knows it will be difficult for her. Throughout the movie, Simran is torn between her own desires and the expectations of her family and cultural traditions.
What's Love Got to Do with It? explores the themes of love, tradition, family, and culture. The movie showcases the struggles that many people face when they try to reconcile their own desires with the expectations placed upon them by their families and cultural traditions.
