The movie What I Did for Love focuses on the story of James White, a successful lawyer in Los Angeles who is engaged to Sadie Ryder. Sadie decides to take James to her family's home in the rural town of Pine Gap for the holiday season. However, things don't go smoothly for the couple, especially when James meets Sadie's father, Karl Ryder, who is a farmer and despises lawyers.
James decides to win Karl's approval by pretending to be a cowboy, but his attempts to impress Karl only lead to more embarrassing moments. However, things take a turn for the worse when James accidentally ends up killing Karl's prized bull during a hunting trip.
Determined to make things right, James decides to take on the responsibility of raising a new bull for Karl. With the help of the town's quirky residents, including a local veterinarian and a dance instructor, James learns the ways of rural life and earns Karl's respect.
