What Do We See When We Look at the Sky? is a Georgian romantic comedy-drama film directed by Alexandre Koberidze. The film follows the story of Lisa, a young pharmacist, and Giorgi, a young soccer player, who meet by chance twice in the riverside town of Kutaisi. Both of them feel a strong connection but are unable to express their feelings due to the language barrier between them.
After a night of heavy drinking, Lisa and Giorgi wake up in the morning to find that they have been magically transformed. Lisa has turned into a dog, and Giorgi has turned into a bird. They are unable to recognize each other, and no one else can understand them either.
The rest of the film follows their attempts to navigate their new lives as animals and find a way to turn back into humans. Along the way, they encounter several other animals that try to help them, including a wise old cat and a group of street dogs.
Amidst all the animal adventures, Lisa and Giorgi continue to feel a strong connection to each other, even though they are unable to communicate. As they try to find a way back to their human forms, they also try to unravel the magical mystery that has befallen them.
The film is a charming and whimsical tale of love and transformation, set against the backdrop of the beautiful Georgian countryside. The performances of the two leads, Oliko Barbakadze as Lisa and Giorgi Bochorishvili as Giorgi, are particularly noteworthy, capturing both the humor and heart of the story.
