David Clark, a middle-aged man who lives in Denver, Colorado, finds himself in a bind when his supplier, Brad, asks him to smuggle a huge shipment of marijuana across the border from Mexico to the United States. In order to avoid suspicion from border patrols, David comes up with a scheme to pose as a family on a vacation. He recruits his neighbor Rose, a stripper; Kenny, a naive teenager who lives in his apartment building; and Casey, a runaway.
As they travel south in an RV, they encounter a number of misadventures, including a near miss with a gang of drug smugglers, a run-in with a border patrol officer, and a visit to a Mexican drug lord's mansion. Along the way, the group begins to bond and develop a sense of camaraderie, despite their initial reluctance to pretend to be a family.
Eventually, David and his "family" successfully cross the border with the marijuana and head back to Denver. However, they discover that Brad had duped them and set them up to be robbed. In a final showdown, the Millers confront Brad and his henchman, ultimately coming out on top and securing a large payday.
Despite the illegal nature of their venture, the Millers ultimately learn valuable lessons about the importance of family and loyalty.
