Wer follows defense attorney Kate Moore as she takes on a case to defend Talan Gwynek, a man accused of brutally murdering a vacationing family in France. As she begins to investigate the case, she starts to suspect that Talan may not be entirely human, as he exhibits unusual strength, heightened senses, and a strange aversion to silver.
Despite her initial doubts, Kate continues to defend Talan in court, but faces opposition from the prosecution and the skeptical police, who refuse to consider her theories about Talan's true nature. Meanwhile, Talan's sister Isabelle arrives from Romania and confirms Kate's suspicions, telling her that Talan is a werewolf and the victim of a genetic disorder that causes him to transform during the full moon.
As the trial continues, the evidence against Talan mounts, and he is eventually found guilty and sentenced to death. Kate, still convinced of his innocence, enlists the help of a group of rogue werewolves to break Talan out of prison and prove his innocence once and for all.
