Welcome to the Space Show is a Japanese animated film directed by Koji Masunari and produced by the animation studio A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Blue Exorcist). The film follows five children - Natsuki, Amane, Kiyoshi, Noriko, and Koji - who are staying at a self-run summer camp in rural Japan. One day, they discover a injured dog-like alien and save its life by taking it back to their cabin and nursing it back to health.
The alien, who is named Pochi, is grateful to the children and offers to take them to his home on the Moon as a reward. The excited children agree, and Pochi takes them on a fantastic journey through space to the Moon's hidden alien colony. There, they meet Pochi's family and discover that the Moon is teeming with life and adventure.
However, their joy is short-lived when they discover that the poachers who injured Pochi are still searching for him and are now targeting the children. Pochi's report on the attack also causes the authorities on Earth to ban passage between the Moon and Earth, leaving the children stranded in space with no way to return home.
With time running out and danger all around them, the children must figure out a way to get back to Earth before their parents find out that they are missing. Along the way, they encounter a variety of odd and wonderful creatures, including a giant space whale and a group of space hippies.
