Welcome to Dongmakgol tells the story of how the soldiers from both the North and South, in their effort to survive, put aside their differences and form a fragile alliance with the villagers. The American pilot, who considers himself a lone warrior, finds himself drawn to the humanity of the villagers and ultimately joins the alliance in their quest for survival.
The film explores the themes of war, peace, and humanity and showcases how people can find common ground even in the midst of conflict. The village of Dongmakgol, which is tucked away in a remote mountain valley, serves as a metaphor for innocence and the possibility of finding a new beginning.
