Watchtower is a 2012 Turkish drama film directed and written by Pelin Esmer. The movie follows the story of Nihat, a former security officer who starts working as a fire watcher in a remote tower in the wilderness. Nihat has a dark past that haunts him, and he uses the isolation of his work to try to forget it.

During his work, Nihat meets Seher, a young woman who has also been emotionally scarred by her past. Seher is a survivor of domestic abuse and has been living a secluded life in the nearby forest. Despite their initial reserve towards each other, Nihat and Seher form a strong connection, united by their shared pain and fleeting moments of joy.

As the summer wears on, Nihat becomes increasingly concerned for Seher's safety and tries to persuade her to leave her isolated existence. However, Seher is afraid of being found by her abusive boyfriend and refuses to leave. Meanwhile, a forest fire threatens the safety of the tower, and Nihat must confront his past traumas to save himself and Seher.

Watchtower explores themes of trauma, isolation, and the restorative power of human connection. The film received critical acclaim for its understated performances, atmospheric cinematography, and poignant storytelling.
